Our Story
The story of Zazzy Bandz began with a simple everyday problem.
Our founder, Dr. Janet Laster Purkey, wanted to keep her growing-out bangs away from her face. Traditional headbands weren't an option because they often created uncomfortable pressure and headaches.
Instead, she found herself using reading glasses as a makeshift hairband.
That experience led to an idea.
Janet noticed that certain glasses had a comfortable shape and fit that she liked, while others didn't. Inspired by that difference, she began experimenting with a uniquely shaped band that could provide the same kind of comfortable fit for the hair.
The result was the beginning of Zazzy Bandz.
Designed From a Real Need
Zazzy Bandz wasn't created simply to make another fashion accessory.
It was created to solve a problem.
Janet wanted a headband that could:
- Hold hair securely
- Stay comfortable throughout the day
- Avoid uncomfortable pressure points

- Look polished enough for everyday wear
- Work with different hairstyles and hair volumes
After developing the original prototype, Janet shared the idea with her friend Laura Barker, who immediately understood the potential of a comfortable, stylish, headache-free headband.
Together, they helped bring the concept to life.
